Thinking of spending some time in the city that never sleeps... New York? Great idea, it's a great place to visit, much safer
than one would expect, you'll have a blast! One piece of advice... do visit the Ellis Island Imigration Museum... you won't
regret, promiss.
But seriously, New York is an expensive place, although you will find your fair share of cheaper hostels.
But hostels is not everyone's cup of tea.
Using sites as Expedia, Travelocity or Tripadvisor, you could come across
Hotel Pennsylvania New York, which asks around $100 bucks for a standard room. That seems a great deal for a hotel in the
heart of midtown Manhatan, opposite to Maddison Square Garden, Amtrak railwaystation Penn Station and at walking distance
of many sightseeing spots. Yes, you would think that, but you'd be wrong (as were we).
Ofcourse if you don't care if
your room is downright dirty, filthy, smelly and you just want a roof above your head while visiting New York, this could
be your place. But if you want your room to be at least clean. So no pubic hairs of previous guests on the sheets, no lose
wallpaper falling down the wall, no broken paint chips in the bathroom, no broken ceiling, no obscure spots in the sofa, no
dity diapers in the closet, no trash onder your bed, no fungus on the wall, no dustheaps on the floor... (also the hallways
of each floor). And the irony is, they know it and they don't give a damn about it.
You might want to check another
hotel...
They have some renovated rooms, but that is not more than a cosmetic improvement. The abysmal housekeeping
remains. Don't be fooled by their website, or even the hotellobby. The standardrooms are aweful, especially the not renovated
ones.
Don't take my word for it. Use Google.com to check for reviews for this hotel on Travelocity.com, Epinions.com,
Tripadvisor.com and so on.
Thought i should warn you folks. Have a great stay in the Big Apple.
